WirelessTrips.com Campground Review: KOA Emmett, Emmett, Michigan

Tuesday, September 13th, 2005 @ 12:52 pm | campground reviews, fall 2005 nostalgia trip, michigan

We picked this place because of its proximity to Greenfield Village, which planned to visit the next day. It was the only WiFi campground we could find in the vicinity.

The park was packed full of weekend campers. In fact, we got the last site that could accomidate our 32 foot Winni (water and electric only, no sewer), and it was a tight squeeze.

About an hour into our stay their electrical box started smoking (bad breaker). We quickly disconnected and notified the front office. To the camp’s credit, the maintenance folks arrived promptly and fixed the problem in about 20 minutes.

The ruckus from other campers went well past the start of the quiet hour. This is also the place where the wailing man incident happened.

As far as the WiFi goes, we couldn’t get it without putting up our antenna rig. As is typical in parks that use HotSpotzz to provide their service, there were just too few antennae and too many trees. At any KOA we stay at now, we make it a practice to get a spot as close to the office as possible, since that is usually where the antenna is.

We heard from the maintenance people that this park had just changed owners, so maybe things will improve over time. But for us, this is not a place we would choose to stay at again.
