WirelessTrips.com Campground Review: Benchmark Coach & RV Park – Marion / Meridian, Mississippi

Monday, July 26th, 2004 @ 8:08 pm | campground reviews, midwest/texas tour (summer 2004), mississippi

Wi-Fi Yes
Cell phone access Yes

After enduring an ant invasion at a national park, we called Benchmark Coach & RV Park early in the morning to ask if they had an opening that night and to beg them to let us check in early. The woman who answered the phone was SO NICE! She said, “Come on over!” And, we did.

They have wi-fi that is free (yeah!) and it performed incredibly well all day long. We had no problems with it at all. They have cable TV, clean bathrooms, and inexpensive washer and dryer, and a small lending library which we donated some childrens books to. There’s no pool for the kids and, of course, no activities, but that’s fine. It’s very quiet and appears to cater to the mature traveler as well as RVers who want a nice, clean place to stay for an extended period. And, Meridian and Marion are beautiful towns. Some of the homes here are pretty enough to grace magazine covers.

Nobody was there when we checked in, so we filled out their envelope, dropped it in the slot, and picked an open spot. A few hours later, Richard C., the resident workamper, stopped by to greet us. Richard is a really nice guy who couldn’t have made us feel more welcome. While the children were somewhat bored here, it was a clean, quiet stay and we wont hesitate to return next time were in town.

Three out of five marshmallows.
