What time is it?!

We’ve had a dickens of a time figuring out what time it is on this trip. When we crossed from the Eastern time zone to Central, I changed my cell phone and computer to the correct time. Problem was, I didn’t realize my computer reset itself to Eastern time the following morning…and every morning thereafter, no matter how many times I manually changed it. So, I couldn’t quite figure out if the phone or the computer was correct after that. Richard decided to keep all his electronics on Eastern time. I can’t do that - look at the time and then deduct an hour each time I do. I get too confused.

Then, last weekend, we arrived in the Florida panhandle…and didn’t know if we were still in Central time of back in Eastern time. And, that night, daily savings time started. See, now you’re confused, too, huh? Since our computers reset themselves to daylight savings time when that occurs, we then had three different times showing up - the computers showed one time, my cell another, and Richard’s still another. We were so baffled by then that we had to get some help. Richard logged into a local website to check their time. He got it, but we still didn’t know if we were in the Central or Eastern time zone. So, Richard did what any normal person would do. He picked up the phone and called his friend Tim, owner of Farren Global Adventures, who also lives in Bangor (Eastern time zone), and said, “Hey, Tim. Uh…what time is it?”

After that, we finally figured it out. On Thursday, we crossed back into the Eastern time zone (border of Alabama and Georgia) and are no longer feeling dazed and confused.

Frank has a stomach virus so we stopped and bought him some medicine this morning. I just caught him eating a giant jawbreaker so he must be feeling better.

I’m navigating today so we’re staying off the freeways. My route takes us through the Georgia peanut farms and small towns. We’ll be in Charleston, SC tonight.
