We’re Almost Ready!

We got the RV back from the shop this week. We took it in for a tune-up and a few maintenance issues. Perhaps the most important was installation of a new satellite radio. It’s a real pain to find a good radio station in a new town…especially when you’re just passing through on the interstate.

Most of the groceries are already packed and the children were packing their clothes yesterday. One mistake I made after the last trip was asking the children to bring everything inside from the RV. What I meant was their toys, the dirty clothes bags, and the leftover food. However, they brought in EVERYTHING, even toiletries and pots and pans we’d bought specifically for the RV. So, I have to check my list to ensure we have everything packed for the big trip. (Just yesterday I found my mini-food processor in the kitchen cabinet.)

Richard has rigged up a wireless gizmo for the interior of the RV so we can all be online on our laptops at the same time on one Internet connection. Ah, it’s so nice to have a techie for a hubby. The children are technically “in school” right now and they have to be online to do their work each day, too. They attend Oak Meadow, a fully-accredited private school in Vermont which offers distance learning via the Internet. They also offer a conventional curriculum (real paper books and lessons) for those who don’t want to do online homeschooling.

It’s getting quite chilly up here at night and the children are already anticipating spending several days in the warm sunshine on beaches a few hundred miles south.

We’re wingin’ it on this trip, traveling with no reservations at any campgrounds. Most campgrounds aren’t full this time of year and we spent money on our last trip at campgrounds that we ended up not staying at. Also, by not being on a set schedule, we can stay longer at places we really like and leave early from places we’re not too happy with.

I’ve found campgrounds with wireless Internet access for our entire trip South, but haven’t yet determined where we’re staying on the way back home. Finding campgrounds with wireless Internet access in the places we’d like to visit is quite a challenge. And, there is no really good directory of them online. So, we’ve been building a large database of campgrounds with wireless Internet access to provide for free on WirelessTrips.com. (It’s not yet on the site as it’s still under construction.) Not only will it help our readers, but it’ll be a great help to me, too!! I can literally spend hours searching for these campgrounds and it’ll be nice to be able to just click on a map to find the ones closest to our anticipated stops during each trip.

If you know of a campground with wireless Internet access, please send us the URL of their website here and we’ll add it to our database.

Have a super day, everybody!

Angela
