WirelessTrips.com Campground Review: Lake Louise Campground - Byron, Illinois

If you’re driving through Byron, Illinois, need a place to stay, and see Lake Louise Campground, throw your RV into reverse and drive as fast as you can away! We were appalled by this overcrowded, noisy, dirty campground. It seemed to us to be no more than a junky RV Park with no enforcement of their written rules.

We witnessed numerous people partying and drinking last night, teens playing a kissing game (with two girls kissing each other, just as we were driving by with our children) and nobody was out enforcing the quite rule.

We arrived at our designated spot and tried to hook up, but another RV was plugged into our box. Turns out there was one box for two spots. Despite the fact that wed paid for a full hook-up, we had to spend the night without electricity. We were able to run the lights using our battery, but our generator violated their low-noise rules. So, even though it was a hot and muggy July night, we were without air conditioning. We kept the windows open but it was still uncomfortable.

As I was drying off after my shower in the RV, I had to listen to two very drunk females outside my window having an incoherent and loud conversation. Then one of them starting making a stupid whooping noise and thats what I had to listen to as I tried to go to sleep. I’d have said something, but I didn’t want to get shot. That’s the kind of crowd you don’t confront. It was so dirty and crowded that we wouldnt let the children out of the RV the next morning. We unhooked our water connection and left.

We stopped by the office where a female employee told Richard he would NOT receive a refund, despite the fact that wed paid for something we didnt get. She then offered to let us hook our 30 amp up to a 50 amp hookup. No way. We’d paid for three days, but staying there made us feel unsafe and dirty. We’re never going back.

We found another campground and, while its also crowded, its clean and obviously a family atmosphere.

Lake Louise Campground in Byron, Illinois is the worst place weve ever been. We give it zero marshmallows out of five.
