That’s One Big Gnat!

I was sitting here working this morning and, out of the corner of my eye, I kept seeing a large gnat buzzing by me. I kept swatting at him but he kept coming back. I then got an itch on my wrist and, a short time later, one on my arm, and then one of my elbow. That darned gnat was actually a small Texas mosquito. I’m still scratching. We’ve also seen two Texas-sized cockroaches here. If you’ve never seen one, just know that they’re so big they can carry away small children.

At Burnt Biscuit Ranch, they have a big trough with goldfish. The goldfish are supposed to keep the water clean (though it didn’t look very clean to me!). During our stay, Max kept sticking his hands in the trough, trying to catch those feisty goldfish. He never was successful (and I was endlessly washing his hands!).

One morning, the Great Dane, Cherokee (which Max calls “Turkey”), was apparently helping Max do some goldfishing in the trough. Max, all wet down the front from his “fishing trip” came inside yelling, “Turkey biting the water!”
