Saturated Cleveland
We’d planned to get a lot of work done last night. But, the wifi signal at the Erie, Pennsylvania KOA was so bad that it was too frustrating to try to get anything done. We instead decided to just take care of emergencies and then wake up early in the morning and drive to the next campground in Ohio.
We woke up to heavy, gray skies and warm, humid air. Sure looked like rain! Richard checked the forecast and said it looked like we’d be in the thick of it all day long. I was up for an adventure so I drove the first leg. Sure enough, the sky grew darker and the first big drops plopped on the RV windshield. The closer we got to Cleveland, the more the skies opened. As we were driving through Cleveland, we found pockets of traffic on the freeway where cars were crawling around high water that had accumulated in the downpour.
One car was halfway submerged in what appeared to be a collapsed storm drain.

I wasn’t nervous because we were traveling so slowly. But, I was anxious to get off the road and try to get caught up on my increasingly full emailbox.
The rain subsided for awhile and we arrived at the campground in Ohio around 1:00 p.m. They put us in a spot that didn’t have any shade and it was pretty warm. No problem. We closed the doors and turned on the air conditioner. I put Mason down for his nap and then dove into my email. The wifi connection was pretty good and I got a lot done…until another line of storms came through. It was just starting to get dark yet the approaching storm made the night seem to come even faster.
That’s when the lightning started. I was concerned because we were in a large clearing but Richard said not to worry. I did, however, unplug my computer, just in case. (Our house got hit by lightning once when I’d just plugged in a new laptop. I learned my lesson about that long ago.)
Anyway, I rolled down the driver’s window and sat patiently and managed to get two pretty good shots of lightning.

After the storm ended, I got back to work…and ended up answering emails until 2:00 a.m. Ug!
That’s one of the downsides of traveling and running a business at the same time. You have to work whenever you can. ![]()
