“Eddie?!?!” - Chevy Chase, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

We woke up early and hit the road, heading for Richard’s grandparents’ house in Illinois. The highway near Madison, Wisconsin was so bad at one point that I pulled off the road, thinking we had a flat! We didn’t, thank goodness. Richard thinks I’m paranoid. He took over driving after that, much to my relief. After two blowouts a couple of years ago, I am, admittedly, paranoid about our tires now.

We arrived mid-afternoon and set up the RV in the grandparents’ driveway. I’m pretty sure everybody who saw us pull up and park in the driveway was thinking about Cousin Eddie in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Heh…

I was concerned that we weren’t in the shade, but my concerns were unfounded. A cold front had come through and it was downright chilly that night! I even closed the RV windows before I went to bed. We learned the next day it had gotten down in the 50’s. Richard, Mason and I took a drive to the grocery store while Max stayed behind to spend time with his grandma, Aunt Brenda, and great grandparents.

After all the fun we had in The Dells, I was behind, and had to work until 3:00 a.m. :(
