Day 15: Heading Home
We’ve been driving all night in an effort to get back to Bangor as quickly as possible.
This time yesterday we were in Newberry, Michigan, where we watched the gas prices go up about 10 cent an hour. That, combined with news of gas rationing in Georgia and gas station shutdowns in Indiania, got us thinking maybe we shouldn’t be tooling around the USA burning fuel (at a rate of a gallon every 5.5 miles) when others need it more.
So we decided to head for home - non-stop. Angie and I are taking turns sleeping and driving. We figure we’ll let things settle down, then maybe try the trip again in October.
We started driving at about 4:30 PM yesterday. As I write this, it is 11:35 PM. So we’ve been on the road 19 hours. Should be home sometime this evening.
