Day 10: Boxing Bunnies!
Well, we’re really roughing it now! We’re staying at the Emmett KOA in Emmett, Michigan and we don’t have any sewer or cable TV and our electric box just died, providing us with an exciting puff of smoke when it did! I’m using my computer’s battery right now and the KOA lady just took off on her little golf cart to find their on-site electrician. This place is PACKED! I think everybody’s getting in one last hurrah before school starts. It’s pretty woodsy here and we had a bit of a tough time getting the RV in between two big trees while still having enough room for the slide-outs.
We drove all day long today, and even found ourselves on a dirt road at one point after we discovered our main route was closed for construction. We hit rain today, too, but just enough to wash some of the dead bugs off the windshield. The police had shut down the southbound lane of the freeway were were on in Michigan today. We couldn’t see any signs of an accident so we didn’t know what was going on. (You can see some of the dead bugs on the windshield, too!)

The children saw lots of rabbits (a mommy with babies) at the campground last night and the first thing we saw at tonight’s campground was also rabbits! The children and I even watched two of them get into a huge fight while Richard was checking in. We’d never seen rabbits fight before! They spent a great deal of time flying through the air. Too bad I clicked too slow and missed getting good photos of the fight. If you look at the upper, left-hand side of the photo below, you can see the foot of one bunny in mid-air. To the right is a shot showing how close the friendly bunnies (well, friendly after the fight was over) got to the RV.

I have to get some other work done pretty quickly in case we end up with no power at all tonight. I’ll try to post this later if I’m able to get online. Tomorrow, we’ll be visiting the Henry Ford Museum. The kids are groaning about that but we’re sure they’ll like it.
