Crawfish Craving Satisfied

We’re in Livington, Louisiana right now. This campground is very family friendly. Lots of children! Ali and Frank are right behind our RV right now, fishing on a small lake with dozens of other kids.

We ate 10 lbs. of crawfish for dinner and our cravings have been satisfied. (Well, Richard ate steak. He’s not a big seafood fan.) Ali ate 5 lbs. of crawfish all by herself! I had to help with the peeling after awhile. While her stomach kept asking for more, her fingers were growing weary.

After dinner tonight we stopped at the local Baskin Robbins on the way back to the campground. Now, remember, we’re smack in the middle of Cajun Country…but we forgot our Cajun translation handbook. The older lady at the store took my order for a Mango Smoothie. I asked for a medium and she said, “We only have small and large.” I ordered a large.

Then the younger gal there asked me, “What ounce?”

‘Huh?’ I thought. So I leaned closer and asked her, “Huh?”

“What ounce?” she repeated.

I replied, “I said large. I think I said large.” I asked the older woman, who was already preparing the smoothie, “Didn’t I say large?”

“Yeah, ya did.” she replied and turned back to my smoothie.

The younger woman motioned her head toward Ali and Frank, who were still looking at the rows of ice cream and repeated, “What ounce?”

“Oh!” I exclaimed. “What else!”
