Cherishing Those Uneventful Days!

We had an uneventful day today. After what we’ve been through in the past few weeks (Mason’s birth and then Mason being hospitalized), we cherish those uneventful days! Ali always complains about being bored and I tell her, “Someday, when you have children, you’re going to thank the Lord for those boring days!”

Mason spent most of the day awake (odd for an 8-week-old), practicing batting his toys with his hands. He’s recently discovered his hands and they are an endless source of fascination for him. He stares at them. Well, he tries to stare at them but they keep moving around in front of his face. He is very good at getting his hands into his mouth, but hasn’t yet mastered grabbing the things he wants to hold. However, in the past week, he has learned how to move his arm so he can hit something with his hands, which is what he was doing all morning. It’s really funny becuase he coo’s at his toys and smiles at them while he’s playing with them, almost as if they’re playing back with him.

Richard and I worked until 3:00 p.m. (with Richard taking a few breaks to drive the kids to and fro here at at the campground in the rented golf cart). We then took them swimming. Well, Frank and Max swam. The rest of us watched. It’s a bit late in the year for me to go swimming. I can’t stand cold water. But, the boys didn’t seem to mind at all. And, I kept an eye on them and their lips never did turn blue. The pool here is the nicest of all the campgrounds we’ve been to over the past couple of years.

Mason was so tuckered out from playing with his toys all morning that he fell asleep on my lap at the pool. Isn’t this an adorable picture? :)

We were going to cook meatball subs for dinner but decided, what the heck, why not try the local family restaurant? Richard wasn’t too impressed (we ordered their last three homemade chicken pot pies but they accidentally served them to another table), but I enjoyed my smothered roast beef sandwich. And, dessert was divine! They served angel food cake with vanilla cream (I think it was pudding), topped with fresh peach slices and smothered in whipped cream. I was going to eat only half (it was huge), but I lost control and ate it all. I was able to refrain from licking the plate, however, but it was hard!

We came back to the RV and worked through the evening. Unfortunately, I’ve managed to get way behind these past two days so I’ll have to work all day tomorrow. Hopefully, I can get somewhat caught up so we can go to the pool again tomorrow afternoon.

Oh, Ali decided this week she wants to be Amish when she grows up. She read up on their lifestyle and she thought it sounded very romantic. We told her we’d support her 100%, no matter what she wanted to do. I then mentioned in passing that the Amish women only wear plain, solid-colored clothing and that they don’t wear make-up. You’ll be happy to know that Ali has changed her mind.
