Cheesy Disappointment and a Toys R Us Shopping Spree!
We had breakfast at Apple Holler, which was excellent by the way, and then drove to the Mars Cheese Castle. I’d planned for weeks to order an assortment of cheese from Mars to send to my mom for her birthday, which was only three days away. We were pretty disappointed to learn that Mars had suspended all shipping until further notice because of the summer heat. We bought some souvenir candy for the children.
We then went to the craft store and I bought a small, personalized project I could make for my mom…because I was now in a birthday gift bind!
We spent the evening at Cindy and Mike’s house. Mason took a long and much-needed nap while the other children played outside.

Cindy made some delicious potato salad (she let me take some back to the RV and I ate it all) and corn and ran out for a bucket of chicken. She, Becky and Brenda had taken the three older grandkids (Max, Ben and Emma) to Toys R Us for a splurge and they were all happily playing outside with their new toys. Mason really took a liking to Brenda and they played peek-a-boo for awhile.

After dinner, we had an ice cream cake. Later, after the sun went down, I caught some fireflies for the children, and put them in a cigar tube. I had Max release them a couple of hours later.
Just before we left, Grandma Cindy put Mason’s brand new shoes on, which she’d bought for him that day, and he gave those a spin around the driveway.
