Campground Review: Texarkana KOA - Texarkana, Texas

I�m trying to find something nice to say about this place. Give me a minute and I�m sure I can think of something. Oh, yeah. The lady working there was really nice! And they have a cute bucket of plastic flowers on every picnic table and lots of swings.
Before Richard had time to hook up the electricity and water, two patrol cars pulled into the park. Shortly thereafter, three undercover cars pulled in. I took a couple of pictures. We never did find out what was going on but that was our first impression of the Texarkana KOA�cops racing in behind us.
We went to the pool, which was overcrowded. There was a little girl there with her dad who had open sores all over her body (never seen anything like it). I felt terribly sorry for her, but her dad had no business putting her in a pool with dozens of other people. Some of her sores appeared to be raw and bleeding. This wasn�t the campground�s fault, but it�s something a lifeguard could have prevented (there wasn�t one).
We made a hasty retreat back to the RV. Man was it hot! But, what can you expect with Texas in July? The sun started to set so I put my laptop on the picnic table outside. There were a few mosquitoes, but I had insect repellent on. I didn�t realize there were ants until there was a swarm of them on my leg. After I did a hysterical dance for the children to get them off (I got about a dozen bites), I looked and realized it wasn�t just an ant pile�there were ants EVERYWHERE. They really need an exterminator out there. We went inside the RV.
It was cheap (but the wireless was too expensive at about $6 for 12 hours) and we didn�t hear any noise at night. Otherwise, this place is actually more like an RV/Trailer park than a campground. I wouldn�t recommend it unless you�re just staying overnight and need a cheap place to park.
