This campground was completely full due to the Independence Day holiday weekend. However, it was full of families and we felt safe and welcome. Two of our neighbors introduced themselves and Ali and Frank made friends with a brother and sister who were parked next to us. The lake here is small, but it has a large sand beach, platforms for the children to climb on so they can slide and swing into the water, and it looked like lots of fun. I might have tried it myself if it was just a wee bit warmer. (See more photos HERE.)
The management here found us a spot and was very kind even though it was a holiday weekend. I know they had to squeeze us in somehow.
We did notice that there were numerous fireworks being set off by guestsBIG fireworks, and that made us uncomfortable because of all the trees there. Its a very wooded campground, which is what we preferexcept when someones shooting off bottle rockets over your head. With the rain came a swarm of mosquitoes so we had to keep Max inside the RV most of the time.
The womens bathroom was muddy because of the rain, but wasnt that dirty. Richard said the mens restroom was filthy and he refused to use it to shower or anything else.
While this campground was kind of messy because it was so crowded, there was a nice celebratory atmosphere and everyone seemed to feel like they were one big happy family. The biggest perk was the wonderful things for the children to do at the lake. If youre looking for a quiet and peaceful campground without hundreds of children, this is not the place for you. But if youre looking for a place for the children to run off all that travel steam and to make some friends, Lake LaDonna Family Campground is perfect.
Three out of five marshmallows.

I remember when Lamont had a dream about creating a fun campground for families. I’m glad he made it happen… hooRAH!
