Amish Laundry Day

I’m two-finger typing tonight so please forgive any mistakes. I sliced my finger open on some metal and it hurts like the dickens. I could have used a few stitches, but that would be way too much trouble so we used two butterfly bandages. The bleeding stopped, but I can still feel my pulse in it. I worked this afternoon and got through all my weekend email. Good thing, too, because work would be very, very slow tonight with me two-finger typing like this.

Anyway, we woke up this morning, packed up the RV and drove to a restaurant for breakfast and then visited the pretzel factory. The children enjoyed it somewhat…but it’s something we wouldn’t return to. It was pretty boring and I felt sorry for those poor teenage boys on display for the tour who have obviously, from the looks on their faces, spent the entire summer hand-rolling pretzels. B-o-r-i-n-g! Here are Ali, Frank and Mason rolling pretzels (which they did NOT get to cook and eat, by the way).

Monday is laundry day for the Amish and everybody had their laundry hanging outdoors this morning. It was a pretty neat sight to see, driving through miles and miles of farmland, and seeing everybody’s clean laundry hanging and blowing in the warm breeze this morning. Looks above the horses in the first photo below:

We drove to a new campground this afternoon and will be here for three nights. This campground has a reliable wifi signal so we can get all our work done. We’re usually very busy early in the week and then things slow down after Wednesday. We’ll be here until Thursday morning. On Thursday, Richard’s dad and step-mommy will be flying in and we’ll be with them for a few days. The memorial service for Richard’s grandma is Saturday and we just told Max that Great Grandma (he calls her Grandma Great) died. Though we previously thought he understood death, now we’re not so sure. After we told him, he smiled and said, “That’s okay. We’ll see her next week.” :(

We went to a HUGE smorgasbord restaurant for dinner and stuffed ourselves silly. On the buffet line, they had three Icee (R) machines so Frank and Max have been on a sugar high all evening.

In the morning, we’re going to work and the children plan to spend most of the day by the pool. They have a really cool pool here. I’ll post photos tomorrow.

See ya then! :)
